The Detroit Tigers are getting lambasted by the Boston Red Sox at Comerica park. The Red Sox have 16 hits and 14 runs while the Tigers have 5 hits and 1 run.

The game is being delayed because of rain in the bottom of the eight inning. Are fans really going to wait around to see if their team can make us a 13 run deficit in two innings while they get soaked by the rain? Doubtful, but I guess this is where we check your fan hood.

Would you sit in the rain and wait to watch the outcome of a game like this? What’s your limit when it comes to your fan hood? Does it make you a better fan because you stayed or does it make you foolish? Chime in below.

Just three games shy of 300 games; the future first ballot hall of famer was unable to answer the bell. What more could you ask of a man who has overcome so much? With all the off field issues Favre has dealt with this year, it was an on the field issue that finally wrestled the iron man streak away from Favre.

The Next closest quarterback with a chance to catch Favre’s impressive 297 game streak is Peyton Manning with 205. Manning would have to keep starting for the next five to six seasons (depending on the length of the regular season going forward 16/18).

Whether you like Favre or not should not diminish what he has accomplished on the football field. All the drama that surrounds Favre is not necessarily his fault. The media has made a headline out of Favre’s every move. We may never again witness another player, who despite on the field or off the field issues answered the call when most would have taken a seat on the bench.

With a finish that couldn’t have been scripted any better; one of the greatest quarterbacks in the modern era threw a pick six that put the game out of reach for the Colts.

Drew Brees put on a passing clinic and the Saints defense answered the call when necessary. Super Bowl XLIV won’t be remembered as being a close game (even though it was way closer than the final score indicated). Super Bowl XLIV will be remembered for the story of New Orleans and their long journey both on and off the field.

The Saints have 19 restricted and unrestricted free agents so this was their best shot to get the win and cement their legacy in NFL history. While the Colts will just reload and stay at, or near, the top of the heap, the Saints will have a tougher road to return to the top of the mountain.

What will you remember most about this Super Bowl? If you’d like to share your thoughts please call our voicemail hotline at 810-309-8445 or email us at tprfans at yahoo dot com. We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Minnesota football coach Tim Brewster says he and the school have agreed to a two-year contract extension.

He says he’s “very pleased” with the deal, with national signing day five days away. Brewster was traveling Friday and unable yet to sign the contract.

The 49-year-old Brewster has been working on a five-year deal he signed when he was hired in 2007. It’s worth $1 million annually.

The extension puts Brewster under contract through the 2013 season.

The Gophers are 14-24 under Brewster. His third season in charge ended with a 6-7 finish, including an Insight Bowl loss to Iowa State, but director of athletics Joel Maturi has indicated a desire to remain patient with a first-time head coach.

Well I’ve always wanted to ask: How much money can a golden gopher chuck if a golden gopher could chuck money?

Kurt Warner has called an end to one of the great storybook careers in NFL history.

The 38-year-old quarterback announced his retirement from the game on Friday after a dozen years in a league that at first rejected him, then revered him as he came from nowhere to lead the lowly St. Louis Rams to two Super Bowls, winning the first of them.

“Not much on the drama part of it, as most of you know,” Warner said to begin a news conference at the Cardinals’ training facility.

Warner said he’d been leaning toward retirement for the last half of this season.

“Obviously, it’s been 12 unbelievable years, some of the best years of my life,” a composed Warner said. “But I want everybody to know that I’m just as excited about the next 12, that I’m excited about what lies in front of me. I’m excited about spending more time with my family, and seeing what God’s going to do next.”

Written off as a has-been, he rose again to lead the long-suffering Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl a year ago.

Warner walked away with a year left on a two-year, $23 million contract, knowing he still had the skills to play at the highest level.

Whether you like him or hate him you cannot dispute his contribution to the game. Kurt Warner is going into the Hall of Fame whether you like it or not (the numbers don’t lie).

Phil Mickelson had barely finished signing his scorecard for an opening 2 under par round of 70 when Robert Allenby questioned his integrity.

Mickelson is using a Ping Eye 2 wedge at the Farmers Insurance Open which is allowed under an old court decision, but many players believe goes against the spirit of new rules which prohibit grooves that allow more control of shots.

“I just believe that even if they are legal, you still shouldn’t be using them,” said Allenby. “Just because someone has a couple sitting in their garage somewhere or they’ve got them off eBay or whatever, I just don’t think that’s the integrity of the game.”

“I think ‘cheating’ is not the right word to use, but it’s definitely an advantage.”

When told that Mickelson was one of the handful of players including Hunter Mahan, John Daly and Dean Wilson who have put the 20 year old wedge in their bags, Allenby appeared stunned.

“Oh, he’s using one this week? Well, I have no comment there. I’ll be a good boy,” said the Australian.

A day earlier Mickelson (who’s been critical of golf’s decision to roll back grooves, saying it unnecessarily cost manufacturers millions of dollars) defended his use of the Ping club, which he said he had in his garage from his college days in Arizona, where Ping is based.

“I feel like the Eye-2 grooves are not legal, or don’t conform, but they are approved for play,” Mickelson said Wednesday.

Well Tiger now has company in the realm of cheating but at least no one got beat up, no cars were damaged and no cell phone records were released in this situation.
