Flair move stops thief! Woooooo!

Friday, May 30th, 2008

A man who subdued a would-be shoplifter at a Wal-Mart in Tallahassee attributed the move he used to WWE Hall of Fame wrestler Ric Flair.

After being caught stealing DVDs from the store, Kelvin Bispham pulled a knife on employees. Will Hudson, the Good Samaritan, got involved by restraining the “bigger” Bispham in a bear hug with a “grip hold.” The article, first published by Tallahassee.com, says that Hudson had first seen the move done by Ric Flair.

“He’s bigger than me, but I was holding him,” Hudson said in the article. “It’s hard to get out of the position when you grab them from behind.”

One password to control them all

Friday, May 30th, 2008

People are used to having a single password that lets them sign into their email accounts from any PC in the world, but what about their video games?

Well, in the “near future,” says Valve, an update called Steam Cloud will arrive and allow players to store their hard-earned game save data online.

It’s a simple idea with big ramifications for the PC game business, as it could usher in a new era of being able to go anywhere, on any PC, and pick up on any save game.

And this isn’t some gimped game save data we’re talking about, either. Players will have access to their game profiles and configuration settings, which will be cached on a player’s machine before being uploaded to Valve servers.

After the initial release in the “near future” Valve plans to use the Steam Cloud to save all types of game data, including user generated in-game footage and deathcam screenshots.

All time low Raw rating

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

The 5/26 edition of WWE Monday Night RAW pulled just a 2.9 cable rating. The show did hours of 2.87 and 2.94, with only three quarter-hours reaching the 3.0 mark.

Aside from Christmas, New Year’s, Independence Day and an October 8, 2007 edition of RAW which did a 2.8 against Monday Night Football and a series-deciding MLB playoff game, this is the lowest number for RAW since December 15, 1997. This leaves little room for the poor rating to be blamed on the Memorial Day holiday.

The company hopes to bring back viewers by giving away a million dollars on live TV, a move Eric Bischoff pulled during WCW’s ratings downfall.
