Pay up and stop suing game makers!

Monday, June 30th, 2008

The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) announced today that the state of Minnesota paid $65,000 in attorney fees and expenses incurred as a result of their successful challenge to Minnesota’s unconstitutional video game law. The ESA, which prevailed over similar unconstitutional laws in nine other jurisdictions, now has been awarded close to $2 million in fees and expenses spent in defending gamers, developers and publishers’ First Amendment rights.

“Minnesota’s citizens should be outraged at paying the bill for this flawed plan. Minnesota’s public officials ignored legal precedent and instead pursued a political agenda that ultimately cost taxpayers money,” said Michael D. Gallagher, CEO of the ESA, which represents U.S. computer and video game publishers. “Courts across the United States have ruled consistently that video games are entitled to the same First Amendment protections as other forms of art, such as music and literature.”

Chris Jericho didn’t see the Trouble in Paradise coming and Kofi Kingston is the new IC Champion!

Even I have to admit that I definitely didn’t see this one coming. After the way Kingston jobbed to JBL I thought his career was on the down slide. They must be getting Jericho ready to make a run at the world belt once it lands on Raw.

It has been reported that Rey Mysterio was upset about his move to RAW during the WWE Draft.

Mysterio, who took pride about bring the Latin demographic to SD!, was upset about not being warned about the move.

Much like J.R, Rey was shocked about his move to a different brand. In fact, the only superstar aware of his move was Triple H.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 free content

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Ubisoft has announced the release of a free downloadable Fan Pack for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC editions of the game scheduled for July. Included in the pack will be three remixed maps of old: dark versions of Murdertown and CQB Training, and Calypso Casino, a level from the original Rainbow Six Vegas.

Maps aren’t the only additions in the Fan Pack. It will also include a game update that adds a new gameplay option called High Stakes, which removes some of the game’s more forgiving elements. For instance, High Stakes will disable players’ radars, aim assistance, and health regeneration. Ammunition will also be more limited, and moving while shooting has a greater negative impact on accuracy.

Finally, the update includes a variety of balance tweaks, new features like a directional indicator when players are within range of a grenade, more spawning and chat options when hosting a game, and new ranks and A.C.E.S. levels for players who have already maxed out the game’s current player prestige limits.

An alleged circular from K-Mart shows the Xbox 360 will experience a “new low price” of $299 in early July.

Analysts have repeatedly called for an Xbox 360 price cut to spur sales in an attempt to catch the on-fire Wii and fight off Sony’s PS3, and a leaked July K-Mart advertisement allegedly confirms it could happen very soon.

The July 6 circular shows the lower end Xbox 360 20 GB console with a $299.00 price tag, which is just $50 more than the $250 market leader, the Wii.
