It took six games for the Red Wings to secure their 11th Stanley Cup and 4th in the last 10 years. It might take a long time for the Penguins to recover after watching Detroit hoist the cup on their home ice.

While the series was hotly contested in games 3 and 5, a miscue by Chris Osgood was the only reason the finale was close.

The Wings had a great balance of youth, experience and grit this year making it one of their best teams in franchise history.  It also begs to ask; “Can they do it again next year”? Only time will tell.
